You've heard meditation can improve your life, but maybe you need proof. According to a recent study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, meditation can actually increase the functioning of the immune system, and improve brain activity. The findings from this study revealed increased levels of antibodies in subjects who meditated. In addition, those people who practiced meditation saw as much as a 50 percent increase in brain activity in the part of the brain responsible for producing positive emotions and reducing anxiety.

There are many meditation techniques for beginners, I believe that guided meditation is the best for learning how to meditate. In order to keep your mind from racing and to focus your attention you can create a guided meditation using a simple recording device. The key is to speak slowly and clearly in a calm and relaxing voice. Begin by relaxing your body starting at your head, and moving down your scalp, face, neck, throat chest back, arms, hands, abdomen, pelvic girdle, buttocks, legs, feet toes. Talk gently and slowly and use the word relax many times.

As you exhale, mentally repeat the word, relax and let yourself feel a warm wave of relaxation flow over you. Then simply drift into a quiet place. If thoughts come, just notice them and let them drift on by. Spend a minimum of 15 minutes in this peaceful place.

Some people don't like listening to their own voice, so if this is you then it is best to purchase a guided meditation with a professional whose voice you enjoy listening too. Once you learn the basics, you can expect to see significant changes in your health and well-being with just 15 minutes a day in meditation.

Guided meditation is the easiest and most effective technique for beginners. People who meditate regularly found in have experienced high rates of creativity, improved problem-solving skills, and a peace of mind that was once only a dream. Once you learn these techniques, you can practice them any time you need to calm down or clear your head. A whole new world is yours for the taking when you practice these simple and effective relaxation techniques.
