When you are in yoga class doing postures, vigilantly observe whether you have an urge to compare yourself with others, especially if you pretend not to care. When you discover this ingrained human urge, take a deep inhalation. As your breath flows in, draw your awareness deep inside your heart. As you exhale, release the urge. Do the yoga only for yourself, even when a hundred other people are in the room. Your practice is for you alone. |

For me, the seasons represents 2 aspects. The path through my own life and the spiritual path. Firstly, the path through my life and how the seasons map this out. Autumn has particular significance for me. Spring is birth (or re-birth!). Clearly, this is visible in the explosion of flowers and the greenery that erupts out from the trees and hedgerows. Many people feel that therapeutic Yoga styles are an alternative form of therapy, because they have seen changes in their lives, or in the life of someone close to them. Yet, Yoga must undergo scientific and medical scrutiny in the form of studies or research. Without research, science and medicine would take the "blind faith" of Yoga practitioners as fact. Testing is an integral part of science and medicine. Every procedure, process, prescription, and therapy has undergone this same scrutiny. |
